Today started with Mrs. Johnson and I taking a selfie to commemorate our 25th year here at GLR! It was fun to have students and faculty members crowd into the photo. If I add up all the years I've been "going to school," the number is actually 45 years. That means I've only missed going to school for seven years of my life. I never really thought of it that way.
Everyone had the following experiences today: they used their problem solving skills to figure out the seating chart. They had to come up with some way to organize themselves that was in a discernible pattern. They were not allowed to use alphabetical order. They were pretty creative - they used student ID numbers, birthdays, favorite numbers, even shortest to tallest. I was impressed.
Most classes signed up for Remind. Those that couldn't I will manually enter them.
All classes today saw a movie that I made regarding the lessons I learned this summer. I then assigned classes a challenge to share what they learned at the next class.
American Literature had the additional assignment of looking for five facts related to the Mayflower and Plymouth Colony.
All in all, a great first day. We laughed, we shared, and I hope a few learned.
