We have had some LOUD thunder today. Not only that there were times that I felt like the sun completely disappeared and night was falling. It's no wonder we're in a flash flood warning. I hope everyone's basement is dry...I hope my basement is dry.
In Literature 9 today we focused on figurative language. Figurative language is that umbrella word for all the literary devices we use to advance setting, develop characters, and just make our stories more interesting. We defined simile, metaphor, and personification in our notes, and then we looked at the lyrics of our favorite songs trying to locate some figurative language in them. Then we went on and worked in groups identifying similes, metaphors, and personification. We then broke up into second groups and compared, marking the numbers of those sentences we had a difference of opinion. In the end it was just a few that we questioned ourselves.
In English 10 we started our first formal speeches - Past, Present, and Future speeches. The bar has been set as so many gave wonderful speeches. If this is the caliber of speeches for the future, it's going to be a very good year.
In American Literature we looked at the requirements for our First Person Narrative assignment that is found on Moodle. Then we worked independently on our vocabulary lessons with the intention of sharing and comparing them with our teams. However, time being what it is, we will have to share at the next class period. Tomorrow everyone should be working on their Mayflower Project while in Mr. Judge's classroom. Remember to think about your learning goals and what your presentation will look like. Everyone should be at the research stage. I would like to see an addition saved to Google Drive.
Thunder just clapped, and lightening skirted across the sky. What a wet, wet day!
