The last week of the quarter already. That's just crazy! I can't believe we are a fourth of the way done with the school year. For some, you've gotten into the swing of things, while others of you are still looking for your rhythm. Let's hope you find it soon.
In Literature 9 we had a few book talks in both classrooms. All book talks must be done by the quarter's end. If you can't finish your book, you'll need to do your book talk on the part you've read. Then we watched a video on Edgar Allan Poe and it helped us put another key to the locked box. We did vocabulary just a little differently this time - I distributed a list of examples and the students were to match them to the proper vocabulary word. Tomorrow we will work with the antonyms. For homework, everyone is to read "The Cask of the Amontillado". This story is about a killer who takes a man down into the catacombs.
In English10 we also had a few book talks, and we're getting things finished for the quarter. We then had a few vocabulary presentations. That test will be on Thursday. We also corrected our commas' assignment. We didn't have too much time after that, but we started to discuss a vocal personality.
In American Government, we took first a check over the democracy notes. Too many are not watching the video notes nor even bothering to get them from a classmate. That truly needs to stop. Then we discussed the differences between a parliamentary and presidential democracy. We also reviewed with one quality makes a country democratic or not. Just because they call themselves democratic doesn't mean they are. We then began to discuss the soil or qualities of a democracy. We'll finish that up on Wednesday. Our final test is on Friday.
Have a great Monday everyone and good luck to the cross country team.
