I believe, yes I think it is - SUNSHINE! After several gloomy days, it's so nice to see the sunshine come through the classroom windows. It just changes the mood and attitude of the students (and faculty).
In Literature 9 we started discussing and reading the one-act play "The Bear". We're learning at the same time the qualities of a farce. Farces are very common on television right now. Shows like the "Big Ban Theory" and the old time "Gilligan's Island" are great examples of a farce. We will also be discussing the cause-effect structure as well.
In English 10 everyone was scrambling to edit their videos. I'm so excited to see what these creative students came up with. We're planning on presenting the commercials on our school televisions with the opportunity for the student body to vote on their favorite. This project is in conjunction with the Defined Stem project.
In American Literature we reviewed the perimeters to the novel project (nonfiction). We then took a rhetorical devices check. I think I did see some smoke come out of a few ears, so I hope they did o.k. I'll check and see if the terms are something we need to review. We then tried to introduce Patrick Henry, but unfortunately he keeps getting pushed aside. Maybe tomorrow.
The end of the week is nearly here! Next week are several tournament games, and with the play right around the corner, everyone seems to be scrambling! Have a great Thursday.
