Another Monday morning. I had such a full weekend - seeing grandchildren, driving a long distance, obligations with church - I feel a little frazzled today. I hope once I start knocking things of my "to-do" list, I feel a little more in control. And you know me...it's all about control.
In Literature 9 we watched our fun Monday video. Then we reviewed the words related to Expand our Vocabulary. We then moved on to discuss the questions over "Most Dangerous Game. I distributed the instructions to the map activity we're going to complete. Tomorrow will be a work day, so everyone will be able to gather the information and then create their maps.
In English 10 we watched a video describing the 9/11 Memorial and the 15th Anniversary of the Terrorist Attacks. We then practiced a few meaningful conversations (#3-4). Finally we did a quick review over the information we've studied so far in our unit. The class period ended with the seven qualities of an effective speaker. Instructions were given on how to fill out the Past, Present, and Future Outline. This should be bulleted NOT written in complete sentences. If you write it out in complete sentences that turns this class into a composition class not a speaking class. I demonstrated how the bullets should look.
In American Government we watched the 9/11 Memorial report as well. Then we brainstormed ideas for our Preamble Challenge. We've decided to make a senior video but also include people from the community. We briefly went over a constitutional government, but time really was spent working on our video ideas for the Preamble Challenge.
The skies are darkening, and I know the temperatures are getting cooler. Whether we like it or not, fall is here, which means winter is not that far away.
