After a relaxing weekend where I finally feel I've caught up, I'm right back where I started - behind. I guess that's the life of a teacher. Always moving forward, but never truly crossing the finish line.
In Literature 9, we tried to catch up the best we could after missing Friday's classes. It was a little rough as I want to be at the mid-unit quiz on Wednesday. I'm not quite sure whether we will get that far. In class, we reviewed the information in our book related to the life of Maya Angelou. We compared that to the CBS broadcast that aired immediately after her death. We then moved on and reviewed the five vocabulary words. We discussed the sentence: Maya Angelou went out looking for who her ancestors were, who she did not want to be, and who the villagers thought she was. We discussed the visions at the castle, how she didn't want to be an American, and how the villagers thought she was from Bambara. For tomorrow, complete the imagery side of the worksheet.
In English 10 we had a few more vocabulary presentations. We all signed up for No Red Ink. There is a diagnostic test that that needs to be completed by tomorrow. Then we presented our recommendations for either our book or a movie. Finally, I started presenting information on the Monroe Sequence. We will use this structure for our next speech.
In American Government, we finished our discussion of the various articles of the Constitution. We reviewed the second article, and then took notes on the third through the seventh. On Wednesday we will go more in-depth of the power of judicial review. Current events are due Wednesday, February 21.
In Law, we took our test over the various types of courts. We reviewed for about 20 minutes at the beginning of class, and that left over 25 minutes to take the test. Most finished quite quickly.
Have a great day! Stay warm.
