Whew, I'm exhausted. Today was really a "fly-by" day. I'm not quite sure where it went, but the last eight hours are gone, and I know I'm going to one day wish for them back.
In Literature 9, after reading for 10 minutes, we reviewed figurative language. We looked at the similes, metaphors, and personification found in "The Sniper". Then we discussed the story a bit. We did take a check on Moodle, but I had a few errors on it, so I'll need to do some correcting. Sorry about that! Then I returned their quizzes. Most were really upset by their scores. The thing with quizzes is that one day you can read the question and see the answer clear as day, but the next time not so much. It's important not to be so hard on yourself when you have one bad quiz grade. Those that wanted could (and many did) come in and correct the quiz. For homework, everyone should complete the story detective of "The Sniper".
In English 10 we finished our Past, Present, and Future speeches. Most of them were really awesome. I think one of the things we'll need to work on is how to conclude. It seemed like we worked hard at the beginning, but didn't know how to wind things up. For homework, everyone is to choose a possible vocabulary word and complete a comma worksheet.
In American Literature, we're still working on our archeological dig. Most deciphered the items in their boxes but still had to work on the random items (those that I didn't have enough to put in everyone's box). For Monday, the groups are supposed to meet and work on those last eight items. For Tuesday, there is an article about the women and children who traveled over on the Mayflower. We will also be completing a vocabulary lesson on Tuesday.
All in all a wonderful week. I will admit I'm looking forward to the weekend. Have a great one!
