Wow, and with that the play is over. What an amazing production you kids managed to do! I was so proud of your commitment and energy that you displayed on stage. Every one of you should give yourself a pat on the back.
In Literature 9 we tried to finish up "Sweet Potato Pie". We finished our discussion of Point of View and sometime this week we will be having a quiz over it. Then we discussed dialect. It's so hard to translate dialect into Standard English when we rarely use Standard English anymore. This will be something we work on in the future. We then discussed the poem "A Dream Deferred" by Langston Hughes. He was a great writer for the Harlem Renaissance and we will be studying more about him and other poets later in the year. Finally I gave out a few helpful hints on taking this year's ITED's. I can't make you do them, but it definitely helps if you do.
In English 10 we started our tour speeches. It definitely was a tale of two classes. Second hour seemed like it was struggling, while in sixth hour the speeches just were magnificent. Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse before giving them again on Wednesday.
In American Government we had a dinner party in Federal Hall. Each student was given a name of one of our Founding Fathers. We had hor dourves and chatted with members of the Constitutional Convention. I think things like that are fun - they're at least different. We then returned to class to summarize how the convention started.
I hope everyone has a great day!
