As I look at this "slew" of people sitting in my room, I realize that the 8th period common study hall is AWESOME! Kids are coming in evaluating their classmate's "one-pagers," making up their tests, and asking questions. It's chaotic, to say the least, and right now I don't have an empty chair, but that's a good thing.
In Literature 9 we took our vocabulary test. Body language says a lot, and to me, it seemed like several people didn't study. Despite the vocabulary test being long, I almost always have everyone finish with a 30-minute time frame. It's really unusual for kids to not finish, but those that hadn't studied really struggled.
In English 10 we were mostly about reading, a book talk, and vocabulary presentations. We didn't get too much further than that. For homework, there is a comma worksheet to complete.
I love teaching capitalism! I thoroughly enjoy teaching this concept in American Government. We watched a video about Jack's Place (a 10-year old entrepreneur that appeared on Shark Tank). We then finished our discussion of the mixed market system and the advantages and disadvantages of it. We moved onto socialism but didn't get too far. We will complete our discussion next week with our economics test on Friday. Don't forget to get your current events done.
As I posted this, the chaos was winding down, and my students are slowly getting out their books and reading. That is awesome! Have a great Wednesday everyone.
