I have spring fever. I can smell the fresh cut grass and feel the warm sunshine. I'm ready for a few warm days!
In Literature 9 we discussed Chapter 13. This is a tough chapter as it's hard to understand why it's included. This chapter is about heredity - family connections - the idea that Alexandra thinks she's better than others. We can't skip it because it gives us clues to why she acts the way she does. We spent quite a bit of time before we took our check discusses those ideas. Then we took our check, reviewed the vocabulary, and then updated our timeline. We didn't have much time, but we started a discussion on local color.
In English 10 we defined the terms malapropism, hyperbole, allusion, oxymoron, and personification. Then we reviewed the conversation between the young men and their treatment of the Nurse. Romeo was the winner of the "pun" war. Then we finished reading the scene finding out that Juliet is supposed to go to "shrift" and then they would be married that afternoon. Romeo's man will have a rope ladder so he can climb up to Juliet's room that night. The Nurse seems supportive of this relationship.
In American Government we spent a little time talking about graduation and speakers. Then we finished a review of Chapter 5-1 (Congress, gerrymandering, reapportionment, and redistricting). Then we took a quiz. We didn't have too much time to review the beginning of Chapter 5-2, but that can wait.
In Law we're still discussing justifiable defenses. We discussed defense of home, property, duress, and a few more I can't remember. We will finish this defense packet tomorrow.
Enjoy this beautiful weather!
