It went from fall to winter in a matter of hours. I realize that the snow did not linger, but the wind and the cold did. I hate the cold! All it made me want to do is stay home, curl up on the couch, and snooze. I'm glad I came to school, however, because I teach some amazing young people.
In Literature 9 we took a check over "The Interlopers". If you are on the FFA trip, you can take that check as well. Then we moved on to "The Interlopers" vocabulary. We managed to finish it in second hour, but because of the send-off, we were a little short of time during fifth hour. We will finish on Monday. We then started to review for our test on Tuesday. For Monday, have the rest of the study guide completed.
In English 10 we reviewed the Reading Orally packet. We worked in groups to discuss that the meaning of the literature impacts how we read it. We reviewed the questions in the packet and then highlighted the words that corresponded to the intent of the question. It's all very abstract, but at its heart, we're looking for the words that are instrumental with the meaning of the passage. We then stood over the copier and got copies of each piece. For Monday, everyone is supposed to mark their scripts for meaning. Please time it so that it isn't so far over the two-minute mark.
In American Literature, we had a few book talks, reviewed the vocabulary, and then took the vocabulary quiz. We are going to spend some time on both sets of words and take a unit test. Again, we're struggling with finishing "The War Prayer" - it seems easier in fourth hour than in third hour. For Tuesday, read the summary of The Red Badge of Courage and answer the questions. Those questions are instead of annotating the summary.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and GOOD LUCK to the GLR-CL Cross Country Team. Run your best, that's all anyone is asking of you.
