Friday! I think we're all ready for the weekend. With grades, play practice, teaching, grading papers (yes, I do grade papers), and all the other responsibilities, Friday is a welcome sight.
In Literature 9 we finished reading "The Bear". What a funny farce! It reminds me of an eHarmony commercial gone wrong. We learned that the ridiculous plot development and the fast moving pace is something we're used to. We then reviewed the elements of a farce and applied them to this one-act.
In English 10 we finally got to see the final projects. There were some outstanding projects. I was blown away. On top of that I really felt that there was some incredible life lessons as well - always back up your project, set time aside to get things done, work together (regardless if you get along socially), writing, speaking, and so much more. This project taught me a lot as well. I don't have to be scared of group projects. My mind is already racing on how I can add more technology into the curriculum.
In American Lit, it was all about Patrick Henry. We listened to his impassioned speech given to many of our Founding Fathers. We identified and applied the rhetorical devices to this address. We then watched Red Skeleton's presentation of the Pledge of Allegiance. I find that presentation so powerful.
Looking at our agendas, boy we got a lot done today. Time to rest! Have a great weekend!
