What a weekend! I was privileged enough to see Garth Brooks on Friday night, and it was truly a concert of a lifetime. Just as awesome was the chance to share it with my husband, two of my daughters, my sister, and her family. Then to watch a beautiful young lady become a bride was another highlight of my weekend. No wonder I'm exhausted today.
In Literature 9 we reiterated the importance of reading on our own time. Then we did an inferencing activity with items in a bag. We moved on and for the rest of the class period, we discussed the Ship-Trap Island map activity. This map is due on Wednesday.
In English 10 we had several book talks during sixth hour, but in seventh no one was quite ready. We then had capitalization and end punctuation worksheet to complete. Sixth hour had to take it with them, while in seventh hour we worked on the odds in class. We discussed what our introduction and the first point should look like for our Past, Present, and Future speech. We will work on them until Wednesday with Thursday being the day we present.
In American Government it was so fun to watch the Island Simulation come to a head. They were making alliances, military treaties, etc in an effort to stay alive. One class really worked together while the other was quite fragmented. This project really opened my eyes to the fact that simulations like these can really teach a lot about government issues. A couple of students really wanted to keep the simulation going. I'm not sure how I can incorporate it for future classes, but I'll definitely look. For Wednesday, current events are due.
Have a great Monday everyone. The rain is supposed to quit sometime tonight, and the rest of the week is supposed to be nice.
