The weather is definitely warmer today. It's ironic that when we see temperatures above zero, we're excited and think it's warm!
In Literature 9 we read for only six minutes this morning. Then we completed an activity on imagery - looking at a picture of a picnic - and determining what imagery we would include. We then took a reading check over the narrative essay "All God's Children". We then discussed the problem/solution structure that is used in this story. We turned to page 335 and read the excerpt where Maya Angelou compared the African families to those in Stamps, Arkansas. Her purpose was to compare the two and to share how we really have a lot in common. For homework tomorrow prepare for our quiz over the first half of the unit.
In English 10 we started with our rapid-fire speeches related to a book/movie. The previous speaker determined whether you would present a recommendation for a book or movie. Remember both were supposed to be prepared. This activity helped us realize that good arguments will contain all three elements. Any leftover mythology presentations were taken care of. Finally, we got to discussing the Monroe Motivational Device. Seventh hour will need to watch a short video in order to get caught up. Tomorrow you will have time to work on your outlines.
In American Literature, we didn't have any time to read because we finished the movie. There was quite a silent moment when the movie finished - which is pretty typical. We will finish our discussion on Thursday. For homework, have your one-pagers completed.
In Law, we read a transcript for the court case MGM vs. Honda. We then worked on a worksheet that accompanied the transcript. Tomorrow we will act as the jury and see if our verdict will coincide with the actual outcome.
I won't see you tomorrow, but I hope you all have a great day!
