This is going to be a very short week for me - gone Monday and Tuesday with snow on Wednesday. That leaves a two-day week! I definitely feel under the gun to finish things before the end of the year, but with the way the weather is going, we will be in school until June!
In Literature 9 we tried to catch everyone up with make-up work and worksheets. Then we took the reading check over Chapter 6. We worked for the rest of the class period on Chapters 1-5 vocabulary. It's a little out of order, but with me gone, it was the only way. We'll be picking up the pace a bit in order to finish the book by the end of the year. Read Chapter 7 for tomorrow and complete the vocabulary.
In English 10 we started a little late due to pictures being taken. We reviewed scenes 2-4 and then took a quiz on Moodle. We updated our summaries, and in seventh hour we did have a little time to read part of scene 5. It is my hope that we will finish Act 1 tomorrow, have our quiz on Monday, and keep to our reading schedule so we can finish with time to watch the movie. I sent everyone a link for No Red Ink diagnostic on active vs. passive language. It needs to be done for tomorrow.
In American Literature, I picked up the worksheet on Walden. Rather than take a quiz, I'm just going to look over those assignments. I then distributed the book Of Mice and Men and the reading schedule, and I explained the expectations behind this book - there were be reading checks over every chapter and you need to practice integrity if you finish the book and read the twist at the end. Read Chapter 1 for Tuesday.
In Law, we started class with a final discussion of 12 Angry Men. This movie is more about the background that a jury brings into a jury room. One person missing could change the outcome of a jury. For example, if juror #6 (the one who claimed he grew up in the ghettoes) was not there, they would not have understood the way a switchblade would be held. Then we began our Torts unit. We discussed that this was a grievance between two people. I distributed the unit plan, and because we discussed at great length what a lawsuit was we didn't get much further.
I hate being gone. Even when I'm prepared, I hate being gone. Thanks for keeping everything running smoothly.
