Today was just fun. It was sunny, the air was comfortable, and it was crime scene day! I love crime scene day. I hope I've got all my T's crossed and my I's dotted.
In Literature 9 I introduced the final project - Tic-Tac-Toe. We discussed the requirements and for the rest of the class period, everyone had time to work. People were so quiet first hour that it made me nervous. During fifth hour everyone talked a little more.
In English 10 it was all about Shakespeare's impact and themes. Those that were gone need to make sure they get the notes. Our test is on Monday, and it's a long one - over 140 questions.
In American Literature we discussed and worked on Of Mice and Men. First we looked at the packet and completed the side related to Chapter 2. We highlighted the phrases or words related to Curley's wife's flirtatious behavior. With a second color we highlighted words/phrases that had to do with her trying to attract attention. Then we circled words related to a color (red). Red is a very powerful image in literature. Remember "The Scarlet Letter". In the game of "Clue" - Miss Scarlet. Prostitutes are sad to walk the red-light district. All this was an image we were to associate with Curley's wife. Then we discussed what the real image of her was - what she said "I'm just looking for my husband" or was she what George thought she was "a tramp". We underlined words that related to the one we most thought was accurate. For Tuesday everyone is supposed to read Chapters 3-4. This is the longest reading assignment, so please set some time aside to complete it.
In Law we started the crime scene. Someone found a body on the stage and the law students first secured it, and the forensics class processed the evidence. Tomorrow the information will get to the law students and they should be able to go from there. They will need to collect the evidence and decide where to go from there.
A great day! Good luck to the track students as well as the golf team.
