This is truly the end of the quarter. Everyone is scrambling to get things done - teachers with their grades, students taking tests, the end of athletic seasons. It's a busy time for everyone.
In Literature 9 we finished our first unit on nonfiction. Students took their comprehensive test today. I didn't see too much smoke coming out of their ears so I think it went all right. I collected notebooks and most students did very well. The ones that never do their homework took quite a few hits, but I'm sure they'll get the hang of things.
In English 10 they too were taking a unit test on Vocal Personality. They told me afterward that they thought the test would be much harder than it was. I think that's a good sign. I collected notebooks here as well. Most did very well, but some still haven't grasped the concept that they need to complete the assignments as given.
In American Government we learned a little about the people we fondly call our Founding Fathers. We discussed how hard it was for them - no one had tried to do what they were setting out to do. We played a game with no rules to compare it to what the men of that time period might have felt.
Several alerts have come across my phone today - might the end of the government shutdown be at hand? The next twelve hours should be interesting.
