The cloudy day makes for a sluggish teacher (and I think a few students are dragging as well). Maybe I need to find an energetic video for tomorrow.
In Literature 9 I again looked at the page number everyone started on and compared it to where they left off on Friday. This is to help me see who's reading over the weekend and who isn't. We have several people who are ready to present their Book Talks, and that is exciting! We then took a check over "The Most Dangerous Game - Before the Hunt". I hate giving checks on a Monday, but that just is the way that things turned out. For second hour, it definitely hurt more than for the fifth-hour class. I'm kind of seeing a pattern with that. We discussed how Rainsford might make a good prey (something to be hunted). We made a list which included that Rainsford is smart, athletic, knowledgeable of hunting, and adrenaline (that's the one I added). We then reviewed the two vocabulary words "tangible" and "discern". During fifth hour we had time to read the first part of the hunt, but second hour there wasn't much time for reading. For homework, finish the story.
In English 10 I also documented the page numbers. During sixth hour we had two wonderful book talks. They were painless and informative. We then got through as many vocabulary words as time would allow. We also took time to take notes about informal versus formal communication and the five communication arenas. Those that were gone need to get those notes from someone. For homework, there is an end-punctuation worksheet to complete.
In American Government, we discussed for a good portion of the class period the differences between Thomas Hobbes and John Locke. We reviewed the worksheet that was assigned as homework, and also added a few notes. Our tribes (I should be called them 'states' rather than tribes) met and wrote the Five Freedoms. These are like those freedoms protected in our Constitution. Since today is Constitution day, it seemed appropriate to write our own Constitution. For homework, there will be a quiz over 1-1 on Wednesday, and Current Events are due on Friday.
Good luck to the football players traveling to Madison. Also thinking of Trenton Bass of Hills-Beaver Creek. Get well soon!
