According to the weatherman, winter is coming. The fog this morning was horrendous, and you know what that means - in February we're going to have a horrific storm. Let's see if the old wives' tale holds up.
In Literature 9 we started our Point of View workshop. We watched two short trailers - one for Vantage Point and the other for Sixth Sense. Both of these movies tried to play with point of view, but most movies, television shows, newspapers, etc. use third person. Then we shared our answers for the symbols worksheet. We didn't have a lot of time to work on the story "The Scarlet Ibis," but we'll get there tomorrow. For homework, complete the front side of the CLOSE worksheet.
In English 10 we heard the last of the two personal narratives. We then shared our three topic choices and also evaluated them based on 1) which one do I like the best 2) which one do I think my audience will like and 3) which one do I already know something about (background knowledge). Now you don't have to go by the scores, but this activity is just asking you to think beyond yourself and consider your audience. For homework, complete the front side of a worksheet related to commas. We will be taking our quiz later this week. I also distributed the next set of vocabulary words, but the bell had rung and we didn't get too far.
In American Government, we reviewed the Articles of Confederation (by the numbers). We had a quick discussion of the problems facing our country at the time of the Articles. We then took a quiz. Everyone was assigned a Constitutional Signer and should conduct research for our Constitutional Dinner Party, which will be held either Friday or Monday.
Good luck to the high school music department. I've been listening to your concert for the past week and have truly enjoyed Christmas songs.
