I'm so excited to see Garth Brooks tonight! WIth family, it's going to be a night to remember.
In Literature 9 we finished up our vocabulary lesson. We'll get faster at completing these; it just takes time to get used to a new teacher's assessments/worksheets. My vocabulary is the same way throughout high school - Literature 9, English 10, and American Literature. After the fifteen minutes to complete the vocabulary lesson, we then began to work on our Ship-Trap Island map. This activity is to help us develop our inferencing skills. You will have 20 minutes on Monday to work on your map, and it will be due on Tuesday. So for homework, you might want to work on it a little this weekend. Also, don't forget to read!
In English 10 we reviewed the elements of an effective and ethical speaker. Then everyone was introduced to their first "formal" speech assignment. We've already given a couple of speeches - book talks, vocabulary presentation, etc. - but this will be our first formal assignment. We reviewed the requirements and the assignment for Monday is to have three items chosen. You do NOT have to bring the items, just choose them so we can work with them in our outline.
In American Government, mass band hit our attendance pretty hard. We had some wonderful discussion in both sections. I think most of you watch the news, and that is awesome. As Americans, we need to remain informed. We then reviewed the Types of Government found throughout the world. We only managed to complete the front side of our notes, so we'll finish the rest next week. We will finish our Island Simulation next Monday, and then move onto Survivor - the Government edition.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Good luck to the football players.
