The Super Bowl was quite the "dud". I had really hoped that it would have been a better game than it was. I was "rooting" for the Seahawks, but really liked Peyton Manning. So it was a wash for me either way.
In Literature 9 we started with our first story in the unit "Rewards and Sacrifices". The classic story "The Gift of the Magi" is such a sweet story about sacrifice and priority. We discussed the story and filled out a story map. A quiz was taken on Moodle, and everyone should have done quite well on that. Then we discussed what makes a classic story, and we also defined allusion.
In English 10 we're still in the process of catching everyone up from last week's late start. The second hour class took their quiz over vocabulary. We then took notes on an Introduction speech. They then randomingly was assigned their person to introduce. Sixth hour had the advantage of an entire period to work on the research end of their speech. I hope everyone prepares for this one, as many need a good grade.
In American Government it was all about the standing committees. We introduced the committee system to the class, and then time was given in class to work on a power point presentation. It really isn't a slide show as much as it is a media "poster". Everyone is asked to include the chairperson, the jurisdiction of the committee, and finally a piece of legislation that they are presently considering.
In law we took quite a bit of the class period reviewing the key concepts of Chapter 1-2. Tomorrow we're going to have a quiz. We filled out a crossword puzzle, played a little BINGO, and started discussing judicial independence.
Have a great Monday!
