We're finishing up a short week, yet for only four days we really accomplished a lot. I feel like I'm back in the swing of things after the conclusion of speech season and my vacation. I'm looking forward to catching up with housework and laundry tomorrow.
In Literature 9 we had basically a work day. We took our quiz over Chapters 1-5, and the scores were amazing! I distributed the vocabulary for 6-10 and everyone had ample time to get that vocabulary completed. I really don't want to have to schedule time for lessons and quizzes. Most had even more time to read Chapters 6-7. Both chapters are due for Monday.
In English 10 it was also "assessment" day. We finished our discussion of Act 1: Scenes 2-3. We filled out our summaries, and then took a quick check. It looked like most did well. Then we did a graded assignment over gerunds. Here I'm not so sure if we have this grammar concept down. During 6th hour we got a little of the reading of Act 1, Scene IV read, but 7th Hour we didn't get but a few lines done. On Monday we'll have to pick the reading up.
In American Literature we had literature partners for our two Faust stories. One person read "Devil and Tom Walker" and another read "Devil and Daniel Webster". There were a series of questions to compare and discuss. I think this was a "fun" activity. Fun is a relative word - fun for the teacher is not necessarily fun for the students.
In Law we discussed the procedural law that accompanies criminal law. We compared France and the United States, and for most of the students they were quite perplexed how "guilty" until proven innocent rather than innocent until proven guilty.
I hope everyone has a great three-day weekend.
