Everyone keeps getting the day mixed up. So many people that I've talked to thought it was Thursday, and then were disappointed when they were told it's Wednesday. I think everyone is anxiously waiting for the end of the semester and Christmas break.
In Literature 9 we discussed the things within the story that seemed real today. It's remarkable that Ray Bradbury wrote this story in the 1940's and so many of the things he wrote as "fantasy" are actually in some part reality. Whether he thought so or not, he was definitely a science fiction writer. As groups we filled out a "planner" page of the events that happened to our protagonist the house. We determined that the house began to die at 10:00 and finally succumbed to fire between 4:00 and 5:00 AM. Moving onto smaller groups, everyone worked on the story detective. We'll finish that up tomorrow and take a quiz over Ray Bradbury and these two stories.
In English 10 we're getting down to the end of our tour speeches. In each of the classes we only have three speakers left. That will give us time to study for our vocabulary test on Friday as well as discuss the demonstration speech which is due on the 22nd. We will also have a unit test over informative speaking next week. I really am impressed by the speeches given.
In American Government we took a check over the Bill of Rights video that was assigned as homework. Then we finished our discussion of the ratification of the Constitution. We spent a little time discussing Alexander Hamilton's role with helping New York adopt the Constitution. We will finish with John Jay and the symbols found on our money that support the vision our Founding Fathers had for this country.
I look forward to Wednesdays because I know that I don't have to come back tonight for speech practice. It's not that I don't like speech practice, it's just that I like to stay home as well. Ah, there's the rub! Have a great Wednesday everyone!
