Man, I didn't blog yesterday either. I hope 2014 comes with better time management skills!
In Literature 9 we finished our discussion of irony - verbal, situation, and dramatic. We read a fun poem entitled "The Blind Men and the Elephant". Then today we applied the skills of irony to the short story "The Sniper". This story is set in Dublin, Ireland and really is a universal story about violence. It's a very popular story among the students.
In English 10 we're completing a variety of activities. First of all we took a vocabulary test over Jobs and Occupations. From the looks of things, everyone did very well. We're also presenting our short persuasives. They have to convince us to "buy" something - a product, an idea, a book, a television show, etc. It's hopefully teaching them that simply providing information is not necessarily persuading anyone about anything.
In American Literature we began watching our book trailers. Everyone seems to be doing a very good job. It was the first time I had anyone do a project using PhotoStory, and I have to admit I really liked the program. We had a few gliches with music being too loud and drowning out our narration, but that was an easy fix. We hopefully will get to watch the rest of them tomorrow. I'm looking forward to the rest of the presentations.
I hear the holidays getting closer. I hear Santa's laugh, and I hope everyone feels as blessed as I do!
