There's something about typing the word 'November' - wow, where did this year go? I actually used the word Christmas in a sentence today. I know - cut out my tongue, but whether we want to admit it or not - it's right around the corner.
In English 10 we finished our discussion of simple subjects and predicates. Then we discussed the five parts of an introduction (grabbing the audience's attention, building interest, applying it to the audience, establishing ethos, and preview). We then discussed how transitions make a speech smoother and organized.
In American Government we finished our discussion of the symbols found on the Great Seal. It is always an eye-opening lesson as we often don't know much about the eagle, the pyramids, and the Latin phrases. On Wednesday, we will be taking a test over this information.
In Literature 9 we tried something I've never done before. I shared a Google presentation with the students. Each one was assigned a word related to fiction. We then created a crude type of comic strip where Hughie (a penguin) asked Robbie questions. It was our first attempt at this strategy, but now that I've seen how it works, hopefully I can apply it to other situations.
I hope all can make it this weekend's play. It should be a goodie!
