February is half over...I haven't had time to process that January is over. Time flies is definitely an understatement.
In Literature 9 first hour took their vocabulary test. We didn't have a lot of time to work on persuasion, but we can save that for next week. During fifth hour we took a few notes, watched a few commercials and classified the logic or emotion in each other. We also tested some sample assertions (short statements of opinion). For example did they agree with school uniforms? A competency test for owning a gun? and Should people who have a deportation order be deported? We had a good time explaining our own opinions.
In English 10 it was our final day of motivational speeches. They did such an amazing job! I feel that this was some of their best speaking assignments. Super job.
In American Literature we picked up with Thoreau and discussed "Civil Disobedience". We returned to Spark Notes and continued to talk about the quiz. We watched a short video explaining the importance of "Civil Disobedience". I wanted to try and compare it to Martin Luther King, but we really didn't have time. We will continue with that on Tuesday. Everyone is supposed to read the first and last part of "Walden" for class on Tuesday.
In Law we quickly went over the study guide and then took our test. Law is so hard because it's really a test in English.
I hope everyone has a great four-day weekend! Good luck Austin! Good luck Boys' Basketball! Good Luck Speech Team!
