Today was a day when all plans came together.
In Literature 9 we spent most (if not all) the class period discussing "Put Down Your Backpack". This persuasive essay tries to remind us that imitation should not be a choice - that we want to be our own person. We looked at a few assertions and also the techniques she used. Tomorrow everyone will take their test over the literature we read so far.
In English 10 we had the first of our three informational panels. This was a risk for me as I've never done one of these before. I was wonderfully surprised! Sixth hour presented options for the school lunch program, while seventh hour shared information regarding time - scheduling. I learned a lot, and I think others did too. For homework, everyone is supposed to start working on a Shakespeare Scavenger Hunt.
In American Literature, I had one of the best times as a teacher. We completed a silent discussion for Civil Disobedience. Everyone went around and read excerpts of the essay and then responded. It was so amazing to see the discussion develop as people traveled from excerpt to excerpt. I'm anxious to share these with the class on Thursday. Also for Thursday, everyone should read Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech. It is attached to the essay "Civil Disobedience."
In Law, we had the BEST time. Today our witness experiment was conducted. Oh how we laughed, and we learned so much. Everything went off so well, actually a little too well. We had some students quite shaken over our eyewitness experiment. Tomorrow we will debrief what we learned.
