Life is so much better today. I amazed what a good night's sleep can do for a person's spirit and body. I'm energized today - so look out!
In Literature 9 we looked over the vocabulary related to "Of Dry Goods and Black Bow Ties". We then played a little Connect 4 to review the key facts from the story. This was really fun for me because it was something I came up with at the last minute and it seemed to work! Then we started to discuss the structure of the story. We've looked at a lot of "Cause and Effect" styles of literature, and this is an example of how it is used in nonfiction.
In English 10 we reviewed our vocabulary words for Jobs and Professions. Then we took our test. Next we outlined the perimeters for our notecard: you can write your thesis in full, 10 words for the introduction, 6 words for each reason, and 5 words for the conclusion. Everyone should be rehearsing using their notecard rather than their outline. Outlines are also due tomorrow. Thirty points for the outline and 15 points for the research that is supposed to be on the back.
In American Literature we watched a student project of "The Highwayman". Then we were divided into groups and analyzed each stanza of the poem. We were looking for imagery (so easy to find), alliteration (repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of words), personification, metaphors and similes. We also looked for the characteristics of Romanticism - emotion, individualism, and nationalism. We will now go on and study the "Father of American Literature" - Washington Irving.
In Law we started with our bellringer - what is intent "The Jokes on You." Then we looked over the 5 vocabulary words related to the legal field. We had quite the discussion of "intestate" and dying with or without a will. Then we started Chapter 1 Section 2 notes. We didn't get too far as we had such a good discussion of wills and death. (Sounds morbid, but really it was good!)
I hope everyone has a great Tuesday, and I'll see you tomorrow!
