Returning to school after being gone for two days is brutal. I'm still tired, sick, and a little confused - which isn't a good combination.
In English 1 we started with making sure we were all on the same page with our notebooks. Then we reviewed simple subjects and predicates. Boring I realize but it is the foundation of any language. Then we had five vocabulary presentations. We'll finish out the vocabulary this week and take our test on Thursday (that is if the stars align!). We then began to take notes on types of Informative Speaking. They are to find three demonstration speech topics that they're willing to live with, and write them down for tomorrow.
In American Government we did an activity on Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists. This particular activity makes them question who should be in charge - the state or the federal government. It really brings home the debates during the 1787-89 and the ratification of the United States Constitution. They have a few worksheets to complete for Wednesday.
In Literature 9 we worked with rhetorical devices. We then applied them to JFK's Inauguration Address. We finished the class period with recognizing bias. Tomorrow will be a review day and the test is on Wednesday.
Happy Monday everyone!
