Today was a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants day. With the Mayflower Project coming to a climax as well as teaching the other courses, I feel like I'm getting a lot accomplished but then struggling to get anything done. I have no idea if that makes any sense.
In Literature 9 we discussed why people need to use pretense (being something they are not) and also what it would be like to have your greatest desire met but only for a night. We then read the biography of Maupassant and located parallels between the story and his life (writers write what they know). Next came the reading check, and then we tackled some short story structure - cause and effect. We will finish up "The Necklace" tomorrow. We have one story left and then our short story unit is done!
In English 10 we finished up any last minute questions related to the Mayflower Project. Then we discussed our next speech - the tour. We used a randomizer to pick our topic and then started to take notes on the 6 C's - the heart of our topics. For homework, everyone should start researching their location. They need to become an expert on this particular place.
In American Literature we set up tables, discussed the importance of the activity, and basically prepared for tomorrow. Some groups actually looked bored as they are completely ready for whatever is coming at them. I'm so proud of how some really rallied and put together some great presentations.
Have a restful night, and I'll see you all tomorrow.
