Only fifty more days of school. That's just crazy!
In Literature 9 we discussed the reading of this novel. Every morning I will be available for those that want me to read to them. I start at 7:50 AM and finish in time for people to go and get a little breakfast. Last year's class really took advantage of this opportunity. In fifth hour we reviewed the words related to Chapter 1. Our agreement is to have the words looked up and we won't have quizzes or tests over the vocabulary. We then completed an anticipatory questions assignment (those in swing choir and/or jazz band need to pick this up.) Finally I started reading, but we didn't get too far.
In English 10 we finished up our Elizabethan Notes. Those that were gone need to get them from a classmate. Also I managed to fix the Globe Virtual Tour by embedding it into my Moodle. You will need to use the zoom function so you can see the words better. Everyone should have this assignment completed.
In American Literature we updated our notebook, reviewed briefly Washington Irving, then took a check over his life and the story "Legend of Sleepy Hollow". We then began watching the 1949 version which we will finish up on Thursday. Irving is such an important author because he is known as the "Father of American Literature" as well as the "Father of the Short Story." Granted we don't think the story is that short, but it was revolutionary for that time period. Also Edgar Allan Poe claimed that all his gothic style came from Irving. High Praise from the king of American gothic.
We didn't have law because Alicia was at USD, Conner was sick, and Jacob slept in! :-( Maybe tomorrow will be better.
Have a great day everyone!
