I am really struggling today. I can't keep my eyes open! I got a decent sleep last night, but I think my body is beginning to give out. Too much activity and too much stress.
In Literature 9 today we finished discussing the rhetorical devices in the short speech by JFK. We also watched a biography on him as well. I guess I was surprised at how little the students knew about our 35th president. We then went over the vocabulary related to his inauguration speech. We will watch his speech tomorrow in class. It is my hope to have this unit test before the end of the quarter next Friday.
In English 10 we finished the last of our speech activities - a self-evaluation. I hope they saw improvement because I definitely did. The rest of the class period was very quiet as everyone worked on the Shakespeare Internet Scavenger Hunt.
In American Literature we compared (and contrasted a little) The Scarlet Letter and Moby Dick. There were so many commonalities between these two novels. We discussed anti-transcendentalism, and then it was time for the quiz. Everyone then should have had time to read an excerpt from Redburn. There were accompanying questions to be completed for Tuesday.
In Law everyone was assigned a specific Iowa court from the Iowa Judicial System website. Then each presented what they learned from the website. Tomorrow we will do "Law in the News" and finish our discussion of court systems.
I hope everyone that traveled down to the State Tournament had a good day. You were missed!
