I can not believe that it is the end of November and 2017 is rapidly coming to a close. AND on top of all that - it's so nice outside.
In Literature 9 we started off right away. You need to read for the ten minutes tonight to make up for what I couldn't give you during class. We reviewed what an allusion is by completing the worksheet Allusions (pg. 32 in your notebook). We also had a good discussion (at least I think it was good) about Charley as an older brother. Charlie sacrificed a lot for Buddy - his education, his own goals to be an artist, he protected Buddy's reputation - pressing his pants, carrying the sweet potato pie in a bag. He's just a really "neat" older brother. We also talked about how Buddy probably missed family and his community. Being a black professor in the 1960's might have alienated him from his roots. We then took our quiz. I hope I wasn't rushing things too much. For tomorrow, complete the worksheet on symbols (just the front side) and read for ten minutes.
In English 10, it was all about our personal narratives. In both classes, we got through four speakers (and in seventh hour - five). With the smaller classes, it will be easier for us to complete speeches in two days rather than weeks like last year. For homework, please complete exercise 5 on your parallelism worksheet. If you need the link again, let me know.
In American Government, we discussed a few news items - sexual harassment, net neutrality, and a few other items. We then finished up our discussion of the Articles of Confederation. We will be having a quiz on Friday.
Wednesday is always "hump" day, but I look forward to Wednesday because I'm a huge fan of Survivor. So let's hope none of you get 'voted off the island!'
