The last day of August! That's just crazy that the month of August is already in our rear-view mirror.
In Literature 9 we discussed for almost half of the class period how to figure out what information is important (brain-cell worthy) and what can be sluffed off. We read the biography of Frank Stockton and wrote down three facts about his life. We then shared those facts with three different partners. If both of us thought that the fact was "brain cell worthy," we would highlight it. Then we shared all those highlighted facts and whittled it down even further until we had three facts that we felt were important enough to keep in our heads for two weeks. (Frank Stockton was second only to Mark Twain. He was an author, and his most famous story was "Lady or the Tiger?".) Then we watched the video from Flocabulary on the elements of fiction. I'm still singing that song! For the last five or so minutes I began reading the short story. Everyone is supposed to finish the story for tomorrow.
In English 10 we started out class with a meaningful conversation with one of our classmates. We used a Tic-Tac-Toe to keep our conversation going. Then four people presented their vocabulary words related to Proper Names (Lesson #1). We didn't have a lot of time remaining but we took notes on interpersonal vs. intrapersonal communication. We ended with a fun video of "Tape Face" - a semi-finalist who is on America's Got Talent and he communicates without saying a word.
In American Government I quickly showed everyone how to use Windows 10 - clean up their G-Drive, pin things, and sync it for home. Then we reviewed the four characteristics of a state, the four theories of how a state is born, and the four purposes of government. We then took those four purposes and went to the worksheet where we are creating a state and relabel them.
My days seem to move so fast. I can't believe the end of the day comes as quickly as it does. Hope everyone had as great of a Wednesday as I did!
