I noticed this morning that we have only 21 days of school left. That's insane. Where did the year go? Did I cover enough? Did we learn enough? I always second-guess myself with the rush at the end. Then I begin to look backward and realize that yes, we have covered a lot, and yes there's been learning!
In Literature 9 we began our conversation about the impact of the trial on various members of Maycomb. We took our check over Chapters 22-23, and we also worked on the questions related to the chapter. We'll be finishing the book sometime next week, which is awesome as that will leave us some time to work on a few other projects. I hope everyone has the vocabulary completed as I really don't want to work in vocabulary quizzes here at the end.
In English 10 we slogged through Scene 5. We still have one page left. Tomorrow we will work on finishing and reviewing Act III. We also reviewed our worksheets on dangling and misplaced modifiers. We're struggling as most are simply trying to move a phrase and call it good. Some times a sentence requires rewriting. We'll just have to keep working.
In American Literature we took a check over our Poe stories. I'm not sure how some kids continue to not read the assigned material and expect to pass. It's baffling to me! We then began to review "Annabel Lee" and "The Raven". We'll have to finish "The Raven" on Tuesday with our unit test on Thursday. That should still leave us time to read Of Mice and Men.
In Law we started our unit on Tort Law. It's not so easy to say there should be a limit on damages. Sometimes the negligence is so extensive that the parties involved should be paid. On the other hand, frivolous lawsuits are crippling and slowing up our court systems. I have no idea what the answer to this quandary it; that's why I'm only the teacher!
Have a great Thursday everyone!
