Well, that was a long break. Five days for Thanksgiving and then another two days for Old Man Winter. I definitely got me out of rhythm for school. My lesson plans are just a mess. Oh well, such is the life of a teacher.
In Literature 9 we finished our discussion of "The Necklace". We discussed the setting, conflict, tone, mood, and theme. We then read the biography of Isaac B. Singer. Times was given at the end of class to look up the vocabulary words, and then everyone should read the story.
In English 10 I showed them how to upload their StoryCorps interview. It should be relatively simple. We're also going to have a YouTube channel for our how-to videos. We then reviewed the vocabulary for words related to jobs and occupations. We didn't have much time after that, but hopefully we'll have the opportunity to finish up our notes on informative speaking and move on to evaluating sources.
In American Government we took our test over Chapter 2. Since a week has passed since we discussed this chapter, I thought it only fair to allow students to use their study guides. For those that had them done, this was a wonderful bonus, but for those that didn't - ouch!
I hope everyone gets back to the rhythm of school - right in time for the weekend!
