OK seriously, where did November go? I'm aghast (yes I'm going to use the word aghast), that Thanksgiving is next week. That is crazy! It makes me feel that I'm that much further behind.
In Literature 9 we finished up point of view in our first period class. Both classes then took a reading check over "The Scarlet Ibis." Finally we started our discussion of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," but we didn't get too far. Everyone is supposed to read the story for tomorrow. We're going to get our Amazing Race gear on after we finish this group of stories.
In English 10 we got through all but one speech in second period. We also reviewed complements. We'll be working with sentences and its structures until Christmas break. In sixth hour we got through a little of introductions. We still have to get there in second hour. Slow but steady I'll get second hour caught up.
In American Literature we have the same thing. It's been over a week since I saw third hour, but fourth hour I saw a few more times. For our bell ringer, we did the reverse side of the antithesis worksheet (pg. 22 in our notebook). We finished defining rhetorical devices (ethos, pathos, and logos), and we also reviewed figurative language and buzz words. Finally we started to apply the rhetorical devices to Leonard Pitts' essay from 9/11. We will continue to apply them to various speeches throughout this unit.
We had a wonderful presentation from Lisa of ATLAS. Our school does so well with giving and charity. It really is something wonderful to see.
