It's Thursday already. I guess that happens when you miss the first two days of the week.
In Literature 9 we discussed the closing arguments made by Atticus. We also learned through Dolphus Raymond not to judge a book by its cover. At the end of Chapter 20 Calpurnia walks in. I can only imagine how worried she and Alexandra were. Together we read the verdict given in Chapter 21. I could feel the sadness and injustice swell in the room this morning. It is a gut punch. We will have a quiz over Chapter 16-21 tomorrow.
In English 10 we read Scenes 3-4 and a little of Scene 5 from Act IV. Everyone also took the check over Scenes 1-2 of Act IV. Tomorrow we will probably finish Act IV and take a quiz.
In American Literature it was all about Walt Whitman and the celebration of individuality. We also reinforced that he was seen as America's poet through the poems "Manhatta" and "I Hear America Singing". I personally really enjoy reading "Come Up from the Fields Father." On Tuesday we will be having a test over Romanticism and these poets (Poe, Dickinson, and Whitman).
In Law we finished the Trial of the Drowning Woman. The jury deliberated and found him guilty of First Degree Manslaughter. He was sentenced to 10 years in jail and a $50,000 fine. We then took our 5-2 Quiz (open notebook). I distributed the study guide, and we will review tomorrow with the test on Monday.
All in all a great day! Getting things finalized for Broadway Bound and that's always exciting!
