So sorry that I didn't get to this yesterday. I left for a doctor's appointment and completely spaced it off.
In Literature 9 we worked on creating a reader's theater from "Son from America". Everyone was divided into groups of four. The idea was to determine what the "heart" or "essence" of their reading section. Using post it notes, everyone cut and modified their selection. Tomorrow we will present our reader's theater. We also had time to review the vocabulary words for this story. I handed out a story detective to accompany the short story, but we'll fill this out as we listen to our reader's theater.
I was gone for English 10 today, but I'm sure Mr. Range had things well under control. Everyone should have received an email outlining the activities. First the groups were supposed to review their grammar worksheet (adjective prepositional phrases). I provided an answer sheet for comparison. Then, as a group, there was a website that taught the use of parallelism. There was an exercise to accompany it as well. Finally, using those skills, everyone is to write their three main points using parallel structure. I will be checking both the structure and the research tomorrow.
In American Literature we took a few minutes and "debriefed" the Mayflower Project. I returned their Puritan tests, and we discussed them. Finally we got started on aphorisms. We translated a few in a matching exercise, and then individually we discussed the meaning behind some well-known proverbs. On Friday there will be a quiz over Ben Franklin's life and contributions.
Again, sorry I forgot to post. I'll do better next time!
