I missed yesterday due to a meeting in Sioux Center. It seemed like the day went smoothly. I truly appreciate it when students respect the guest teacher.
In Literature 9 for the last few days we read a memoir "Into Thin Air." This memoir relates the horrifying experience of the lost of 19 people while they scale Mount Everest. Using a reading guide, students had the time to read and answer directed questions.
In English 10 we worked on our oral interpretation notes along with the creation of a 10 question quiz. Albert Einstein's mother always asked her son, "Did you ask any good questions today?" As a teacher, I hope to get students to ask good questions. Today the second hour students were able to explore the Constitution Week. We played a few games on iCivics.org.
In American Literature yesterday they continued watching The Crucible.
In American Government today we reviewed the four economic systems - capitalism, mixed-marker, socialism, and communism. We worked in groups "Who Am I?" Next week we will continue our study of economic systems, and then take our first unit test.
