It may be Tuesday, but it feels a lot like a Monday. So many of us are dragging our feet and looking at the clock as each minute ticks by. We just have to plug away and keep our eyes on the prize (what that prize is I'm not too sure!)
In Literature 9 we started out with Drill the Skill and an author's purpose. We also were put in a new seating chart. Let's just hope I can remember everyone's name! I already mix up Emily and Kassidy! We then finished the worksheet on an author's purpose. We reviewed the last of the commonly confused words (peace/piece) and started a vocabulary lesson. We didn't have quite enough time to finish, so we're going to finish it up tomorrow. Homework is to finish the exercise on Cause and Effect.
In English 10, we started our yearly vocabulary drills. Everyone is assigned a word, and it is that person's responsibility to present that word. Many forgot to upload their power point presentation, but don't let that stop you. It's better to get it in late than not at all. We have a new seating chart in this class as well. We started our discussion of the listening process. We discussed the five steps to listen: prepare to listen, personalize the message, understand the message, select the ideas, and provide feedback. The students were then given the task of being aware of their listening - either in smaller settings or larger settings.
In American Literature we reviewed and then focused on Puritan literature. We reviewed the final vocabulary words (there were three of them), refreshed our minds concerning the Puritan philosophies, and introduced Anne Bradstreet, our first American poet. We discussed what traditional poetry was (four line, four verse, iambic pentameter, with a rhyme scheme). The assignment was to complete a vocabulary lesson.
