The last quarter! Where did this year go? When I look back on The Music Man, it seems like that was a lifetime ago. What an awesome year both in the classroom and out!
In Literature 9 we took our skills test. We had to read three different passages, locate rhetorical devices, and identify author's purposes. I also distributed the vocabulary for To Kill a Mockingbird Chapters 1-5. The bargain is - if everyone does their vocabulary homework, we will not have quizzes over the words. We will simply do various activities with them.
In English 10 we continued with our journey into Romeo and Juliet. We began reading Act I Scene 1 - up until the Prince's declaration. Everyone received an annotation assignment. We're going to work hard on reading difficult text and identifying various literary devices.
In American Government we discussed the extra credit for this week. CBS Sunday Morning dedicated the entire episode to the 2nd Amendment. If students watch various segments, and then send me a summary, they will earn points. We then went on to identify the people involved in the EOP. We compared it to the Cabinet, We then continued with our "cabinet" meeting supporting and criticizing various programs that are presently being funded by the United States government.
In Law we finished up discussing specialized state courts - family court, juvenile, probate, etc. Since I had yet another doctor's appointment (thank goodness they are done!), Miranda acted as teacher and read the answers for the Chapter Review. Our chapter test will be Wednesday. Most of the class is gone tomorrow due to Swing Choir and Jazz Band competition at USD.
Two students made it to All-State - Spencer Carstensen and Dhalten Dirks. What an achievement!
