Crazy - it's day 150. That means there are only 30 days of school left. That is unbelievable! Time really does fly when you're having fun!!
In Literature 9 we read Chapter 15 together. This chapter is all about the way an eight-year old girl unknowingly stopped a vigilante mob from killing an innocent man. During first hour we also reviewed the rest of the vocabulary words. Everyone swore they would complete their vocabulary alone. Let's hope this is the only lesson we have to do this year.
In English 10 we started class by reviewing some key terms: malapropism, oxymoron, hyperbole, allusion, and pun. It was surprising that allusion was the one that caused the most discussion. We then reviewed finding verbals and identifying them. We know the difference, but when we see them in paragraph format, we're completely lost. We ended class by finishing Scene 4. It's always fun to have the costuming - "a sail, a sail". I get so embarrassed translating the phrases, but if I don't the meaning is lost. Tomorrow we will finish Scenes 3 and 4 with a check. We will also be completing a graded assignment on verbals.
In American Government everyone had to listen to me a little more than I'm used to. I shared information regarding Plessy vs. Fergusen and Brown vs. the Board of Education. These two landmark cases laid the groundwork for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. We will complete this discussion next week, and then we will begin our simulation of the lawmaking process.
In Law we played Pick 12 Jury Game (so fun). It looks like the defense would have won. We then finished our notes and reviewed the information. I truly enjoy teaching the criminal unit. We will be watching 12 Angry Men next week.
Have a great Wednesday everyone!
