It's horrible when you're gone because it seems like all you're doing is making references to what should have happened yesterday. I like continuity, and when I'm gone, there isn't any continuity.
In Literature 9 each class was a little different. Mostly because I was here for second hour and not for fifth. Both classes were told about Perseverance Day tomorrow. Each student is to have three questions (one for each speaker) in anticipation of the question and answer time. We will have three sessions - Dream Big, the Human Spider, and a Breakout Room. Tomorrow should be a great day. In class, we went over another example of Point of View (from our workshop). We reviewed the elements of the story in the fifth period class, while in second hour we started talking about stock characters. Either way, we'll finish up the story on Monday and prepare for our unit test.
In English 10 we took our comma assessment. Our greatest difficulty with me being gone is getting speeches done, vocabulary presentations finished, and a test over our informative notes. So today we tried to get a few more vocabulary presentations done. I sent every sophomore a copy of my outline of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. That way they have something to compare their outline to. Several students still haven't turned in their thesis statements and that hurts academically. Tomorrow we will have a test over our Informative Speaking notes. At least that will get out of the way our long list of things to do.
In American Literature most of the class period was spent working on our rhetorical devices quiz. It's not that it's hard, but with two essays, it's hard to get done. So many of you are very meticulous and that's an awesome trait, but I struggle sometimes anticipating time requirements. For Tuesday, remember to have your blackout poetry completed.
Have a great Thursday everyone!
