Ah, another Monday. I overslept this morning, and it seems like I'm running chaotically all day. Good thing I was prepared for classes before I left on Friday. This week will seem a little chaotic - volleyball playoff game on Tuesday, football playoff game on Wednesday, parent-teacher conferences, and trying to get a few play practices in on top of all that! Whew!
In Literature 9 we reviewed the qualities of a farce while at the same time reviewing the plot elements of "The Bear". We then discussed the cause effect structure of the one-act. Finally we had to decide what animal best describes our own personality. We did this on a journal on Moodle. I'm looking forward to reading "Red Carnations" - it has so many plot twists.
In English 10 we finally started to review the vocabulary related to Groups. We also spent some time reviewing the parts of speech (nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs). Our next speech is a demonstration one, so we started to take notes on Informative Speaking. I look forward to these speeches as we didn't give these last year. I think it will be fun to see what I can learn in a 4-5 minute time frame.
In American Government we're still talking about the creation, ratification, and adoption of the U.S. Constitution. I know that for some (o.k. maybe many) students this seems a little dry, but I just find it fascinating. To think that these men could create something that would be around for 225+ years - a government that we at times dislike but struggle to find anything better. It truly is amazing.
Time to head out to parent teacher conferences. After twenty+ years, you'd think I wouldn't get so nervous, but I do!
