Well, I had a first today. Since we've moved to on-line gradebooks, commonly known as JMC, I've continually had problems with posting my grades, grades disappearing, etc. Over Christmas break I deleted my entire gradebook and started over. Today I had zero problems. I finally got everything corrected (that was what appeared at one point an insurmountable task), and once all was entered...it calculated without difficulty or error! YEAH!!
In Literature 9 (5th Hour) we reviewed Atticus' definition of courage. We then took our Chapter 11 Reading Check. We didn't move too far forward as we'll eventually have to catch 7th hour up anyway.
In English 10 (1st Hour) we finished our discussion of iambic, pentameter, and finally rhyme scheme. Their homework assignment is to work on a Globe Virtual Tour. I thought it was kind of cool, so I hope everyone else does too.
In American Government we finished our simulation. The Senate discussed the bill they passed, and now they must wait patiently for the House to complete its business. In the House (4th Hour), they finished their debate and passed their bill. A conference committee was created (2 members from each class) and a compromising bill was created. The House has passed this revised version, and I'm assuming the Senate will too. It will be sent the President (Mr. Range) to see what he thinks. This was a lot of fun, and in fact several students asked if we could do this until the end of the year. That really made me feel good. I'm trying to think of another simulation that could be done for the executive branch.
Good Luck to the Speech Kids on their competition. I hope all stay healthy and perform well.
