Another month of 2015 is behind us and a fresh one lies before us. What will September bring? It will bring cooler weather, and let's hope a drop in humidity.
In Literature 9, English 10, and American Literature we cleaned up and organized our "G" drives. We placed things that need to be saved into appropriate folders and deleted those files that we no longer need to hold onto. We also went to our emails and deleted unnecessary communication. Employers are asking their new employees to organize their digital information and that means knowing how to make folders, keep an email account (in box) empty, and organize their time. Hopefully we're helping the students to develop those skills.
After organizing our computers and email, the Literature 9 class worked with the vocabulary related to "Lady or the Tiger". We discussed the difference between denotation and connotation. We then classified them. Finally we reviewed three of the five words - their meaning, synonyms, antonyms, and examples.
In English 10 we also worked on vocabulary. I provided two examples of vocabulary presentations. They will be uploading theirs tomorrow. We started (but didn't get too far) with our notes on the Art of Communication. More to come tomorrow.
In American Literature we discussed the primary document - a journal from an early Plymouth colonist. They are to read it and place appropriate titles or headings under the subject areas of each paragraph. If multiple paragraphs deal with the same topic, then one heading will be sufficient. Then we traveled to the "old" commons and the groups worked with the Colonization of Dione. I'm so excited to see their presentations on Thursday. They seem to be working hard on the personnel, supplies, and presentation.
All in all a great day. It went really fast and that's always a good sign.
