OK, who stole my weekend? I know that it was there as I noticed the days on the calendar, but I don't feel like I had any "break". That's o.k. in that the speech kids performed wonderfully, but it makes for a short weekend to relax and rejuvenate. In all of my classes we watched a magic trick done by Jon Dorenbos. He has every reason to be bitter towards life, but through magic and a great support system he is the definition of success. I highly recommend you learning about this great young man.
After watching the video, Literature 9 focused on our Mystery Boxes created for "Of Dry Goods and Black Bow Ties." We passed our computers around and shared our digital creations. We did discuss how we need to create clues that required some thought and concentration. So the next time we make a mystery box, we're going to try and "amp" up our clues. In first hour we did take a few minutes to take notes on biographies. For tomorrow they were to complete a cause and effect worksheet.
In English 10 I handed out the rubric for the product speeches and also some notes on verbals. The rest of the class period was devoted to product speeches. We got through five of them, and we will finish many of them tomorrow. I also distributed notes on Verbal Phrases. Everyone is expected to complete the exercise that is on the photocopied notes.
In American Government many students were absent due to Homecoming (decorating or the court). We still played a game entitled "Power Grab". It was a chance for us to see how our government is limited.
In Law, again since people were gone for Homecoming, we worked on a Bill of Rights worksheet, but really didn't go on.
Enjoy Homecoming Coronation! You're going to love the faculty skit...It's a doozy!
