Another day, and a to-do list that is really overwhelming. I need to follow Dory's (Finding Nemo) mantra - just keep swimming, just keep swimming!
In English 10 we're finally seeing the light at the end of the Informative Speeches tunnel. We've heard some amazing speeches, and I have learned a lot. Unfortunately several have just added to their fear of giving speeches by not being prepared. There is nothing worse than standing in front of your peers and blanking out. Or worse, not being prepared - you know it, they know it, (I know it), and it's a-w-k-w-a-r-d! We'll finish up tomorrow and take our test on Thursday/Friday.
In American Government we turned in our Separation of Powers presentation (either uploaded it to Google or shared it with me). It's important that you indicate which you did on your blue sheet and turn it in. Then we took our 3-2 Quiz. The body language seemed to say that we knew what we were doing. Then we reviewed how an amendment is proposed (at the national level) and the ratified/approved (at the state level). We will be discussing the 27 amendments during the next few class periods. Our test will probably be on Monday, December 22nd.
In Literature 9 we're still talking about suspense, irony, and characterization. The story "The Interlopers" is a great story to review all these concepts. We first discussed the setting (the Carpathian Mountains, which are by the Ukraine. Then we talked about the characters of Ulrich and Georg. We wanted to see the shift from negative to positive characters. We took a check over the reading, and then reviewed the five vocabulary words. The assignment is to work on the plot line (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, or resolution).
Hope everyone has a good Wednesday! See you tomorrow.
