With rain comes lethargic students and teachers. I'm so ready for a nap!
In Literature 9 we started off with the vocabulary for Chapter 17. There were only three words, and luckily only one person wasn't done. So far so good. Then we shared our answers to Chapter 15 reading comprehension questions. Then as a class we discussed the character called Maycomb. What did this town look like (pg. 3), how did it act, what was the history behind it, and finally what do people say within it. This story could only take place in Maycomb, because in Chicago there wouldn't have been the same kind of racism. Oh, there would have been racism in the 1930's, just not the same as Alabama. Then we discussed the format of a criminal trial. For tomorrow everyone is supposed to read Chapter 17.
In English 10 we shared what our names meant and then the meanings behind character names. It was to discuss whether we fit our name or our name came to fit us. Shakespeare took time in choosing his character's names, and after looking up their meanings we could see why. We then read Scenes 5-6 of Act II, and then we watched the interpretation of the Zeferelli. Finally I sent two study links from Quizlet - one that reviews the terms and characters from Act II and another that reviewed the famous quotes. That should prepare everyone, along with the study guide for tomorrow's quiz.
In American Government we finished our discussion of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. We went over the terms and the information from the packet. We will finish that discussion up on Friday and take a quiz. I am looking forward to a Mock Congress simulation. I hope I can get it organized in such a way that it benefits all who are involved.
In Law we watched the second installment of 12 Angry Men. Usually students think it's a rather slow moving movie, but this group seems to really enjoy it. I'm glad. I don't want to be known for showing a dud.
Have a great Wednesday, despite the rain!
